60103 "Flying Scotsman" now running smoke box first running from York to the East Lancashire Railway via Hellifield and Preston on 5Z60 caught at Flag Lane, Lostock Hall in very low light

well done Andrew, I saw a lorry with a tender on the back as I walked over the bridge over main line, by the time I got camera sorted, it exited stage left, moving to other side of bridge saw two lorries heading for Crag Bank exit but they were a long way off and I could not zoom that far as sun was out and cant see the cam screen...that was between 1pm and 2pm, the northern rail 13.05 to Lancaster was cancelled, next train was 14.23 which was 12 mins late and why I was still at Carnforth otherwise would not have seen it, going for wheel turning I hear....Cheers.

I assume there is a gauging issue somewhere, she always seems to come the WCML way and then cross country to York?

 

The route via Manchester and the WCML must be about three times the distance by a direct route. If there is a gauging issue and it's NR's fault, one might expect the track access charge to be what it would be for the direct route.

 

Maybe she just goes via 10A for water and possibly a crew change?
