Hope all goes well in making 850 better (once again!). From the two runs I had behind the loco on Saturday, she was doing rather well, with a decent 'snarling' exhaust.

Latest update on Lord Nelson is that following her inspection on Wednesday she has been failed, and will be on static display this weekend :smt009 Hoping to get her repaired in a week or two, according to the GWSR loco roster.

Leaks to the foundation ring does not sound good to me. The look of the booking clerk at Toddington suggested it was pretty bad.....

I hope it gets back soon

Thanks for the lads on 3440 for the footplate ride at Cheltenham at the w/e

I take that the boiler will have to be taken off again to fix that ?

Has anyone else noticed the British Gas advert that sometimes appears at the top of the Nat Pres page?

Is the amount really a coincidence??

Just read this on the GWR web site

    Hmmm...

Such a superb railway and so friendly to visiting enthusiasts. If this happens I think I shall be heading to Cheltenham again Saturday or Sunday!

NRM boilersmith Gordon Reed would say a spot of light caulking...relevant for those of you who know him!

I've also seen potatoes skinnned and chipped with the whole lot being thrown in to the water space... Admittedly this was on a narrow gauge boiler.

And yes it worked on minor weeps..

I recall one of the BBC programmes about Fred Dibnah where he was having his road roller boiler inspected in steam, and one or two rivets had dribbles of water/steam emitting. I recall porridge oats came into the conversation.

Dont recall what the boiler inspector said....

Good to know she's back up and running and i am just glad i saw her running at the GWR before she failed. I hope this is the end of her problems and she is back on the mainline soon.

And so say all of us!

Those involved with the loco, including NRM, really deserve some pay back for their work now.

And I'd love to see her working in Kent again.

Who from? Because the loco isn't repaying them that well is she! :(

From seeing it back on front of trains again. Both on the GWR and out on the mainlines. That must surely be a pay back for those who have worked so hard to get 30850 back into service.
