Welsh Marches Express 12/05/18 (Saphos)

Have just been told she was shoved well up Battlefield Bank on the return. I will post my friends video tomorrow when he uploads it.

 

Going for videos where it would be working hard would mean leaving home at silly o'clock, and missing the Eurovision Song contest! So I went for photogenic, half worked, no-one told me that Newport viaduct would be shrouded in Scaffolding!

My shot of her storming up Llanvihangel Bank on the outward leg to Cardiff. Not good on the return climb with huge shovage from the 47, but the outward shot would do fine by me. Enjoy.

 

You'd have both been a few yards away from me but don't think we were close enough to chat. Great shots though! Here's mine:

47 on Full power ! No doubt this was for operational reasons !

 

Indeed Ralph, the ploughed field was spoken of positively by the attendant photographers, Scott's photo captures it very well.

2 shots of 34052 at speed on the return leg, firstly at Abergavenny then at Ludlow a couple of hours later.

 

Nice bit of thrash of the 47 there, top stuff

 

Well that depends on your point of view, surely doesn't it

 

So whats with the mix of Mk1's and hermetically sealed Mk2's on the Saphos tours. Do you get a choice, how do you know what coaching stock you end up in? Is one lot "come dine with me" and the other lot "tea 'n McVities"?

 

Lord Dowding leaving Cardiff in the afternoon passing through Splott; this has been a useful location over the years but with the coming of the wires I think that it has had it's day. Shame.

As has been reported elsewhere, the aim is for mk 1's on the steam rake and air cons for diesel trips.
