Nice shot of a very pretty engine.
But, sorry I couldn't resist, if she is called Norwegian, she should look Norwegian too. NSB 21c 376 c.jpg

Blue rods could be a suitable birthday present.

Yes, I know that the post war painting of the NSB locos varied, and some also had red rods. But for me blue rod are just so charmingly Norwegian.

We did debate that option, however the (very few) colour photos we had of 376 all showed her to have red rods sot he decision was made to have red rather than blue.

Would it be correct to assume that Norwegian will be one of the 3 locos out this weekend for the 40's weekend? Many Thanks

Here’s one in ‘76 with greyish rods, or is it faded blue?

This was a silver/grey painted onto the engine when it first arrived in the UK.

Here is link to a photo of the restored Norwegian class 18c no.255 with blue rods that might give a clue. :)https://www.bygdanytt.no/images/48fb4f76-3176-4850-ae2a-4eb9634e3afd?fit=crop&h=810&q=80&w=1440

Blue rods were often applied to steam locos in Norway overhauled by some different workshops, one of them was Marienborg in Trondheim in the 50s and 60s. But it was random which engines that recieved this cosmetic touch.

The official colour scheme for steam locos here in Norway stated that the motion should be unpainted polished steel. The first delivered class 21 had such but with chocolate brown flues in the coupling- and connecting rods.

    kind regards
    Knut:)

Could you confirm this, please, sir? I rang up the K&ESR to find out which diagram 32678 was working only to be told that it would be 300, 25 and Norwegian working the trains.

    Thanks

It didn't look very Norwegian when I saw it there in August 2016 (and neither did it appear to be pining for the fjords)....

    16-1199a.jpg

Still appears to be in the state it was converted to to appear in a film - Tarzan?? - as an African loco!

376 and 377 have never steamed together in the UK as far as I am aware. Unfortunately they are unlikely to, 377 is now out of traffic an my understanding is it wont be in the overhaul plan for some considerable time. A shame as personally I would love to see them together even if only 376 was in steam.

    John,

Sorry I have only seen posts today having had a few days leave from work. 32678 certainly did run!

The Problem , though Andy , is the KESR I expect would not want to pay the transport costs of a engine that is not usable static only , Bressingham, of course would love to have 376 visit because its a working engine , but again, I suspect that they would be hard pressed to meet the costs. but it would be good if 377 could be cosmetically restored to the NSB livery and for both engines to be displayed together for a couple of week ends
