    Vandalism.

Perhaps more germane, what is the impact on the WSR?
Are there spare mkI windows readily available?
Are the labour resources, Volunteer or paid, readily available?
What is the impact of taking these resources away from other efforts?
    Are the Visitors affected?
Above all, what is the total cost of all this?

Whilst I favour as much openness as paosible on matters like this speculation is both unhelpful and unnecessary on a public forum. Please desist. Thanks.

On a more mundane matter. when the steam charter visits this Saturday (26th), will there be a chance to travel on the line with WSR locos? The return arrival at 1747 of the service train at Minehead is clearly intended to take place before the charter leaves at 1750, but this is the WSR so one does hope that everything will work in sequence and there isn't a bit of sleight of hand at Blue Anchor.

Can anyone in the know please comment?

Hi Alan. You don't need to worry about this. We deliberately specified that the charter should leave Minehead AFTER the arrival of the last Down service, even though the WSR did offer to re-schedule their last Up train to allow us to leave earlier. We declined this to give passengers a decent amount of time in Minehead, or travelling on WSR services (half price fares for charter passengers). Also it means the support crew have plenty of time to service Clan Line. Therefore, unless there is a very major collapse in the WSR timetable - not likely I'm sure - charter passengers will be able to travel into Minehead on the 16.15 ex BL and cross over to join the our train. The presence of the charter means there will be an hourly service throughout the day on the WSR until Clan Line leaves, so all pathways will be occupied, and only if there's a very major problem would the plan be altered.
I have checked with WSR management and it is most probable that the Down working of our charter will stop for a couple of minutes at those stations where a token exchange is needed (Crowcombe Heathfield, Williton and Blue Anchor). Provided everything is on time, I suspect we'll be into Minehead a little before the booked time of 14.55. On the return, we have the railway through to BL to ourselves, so this will be quicker.

On the contrary, I think experience has shown that openness about the effect of such events can be very beneficial, both in terms of understanding from passengers (for any disruption caused) and sympathy and donations towards the cost of any damage (which will be insured but probably only after a perhaps quite large excess).

Of course, all publicity must be accurate and timely and care must be taken not to try and blame such events for other, unrelated difficulties! It is also important that management take a proactive line in briefing staff and ensuring that there is a united, and accurate, voice on the subject.

Please read what I said. No problem with FACTUAL information. What I was referring was to the SPECULATION. Of course threre is no problem explain delays to paid. it was the pure speculation that has, and still does bedevil this forum.

You clearly consider reasonable questioning as speculation! @mvpeters post which you quoted and then condemned contains QUESTIONS, which I understand as seeking information, not speculating as to the situation. All of these questions are clear and obvious in the situation, and I can't see that any contain any suggestion ('speculation') as to the answers. Perhaps you can educate me as as how they do?

Similarly, in the argument about whether they are 'speculation' (which you deem not to be permitted - reading some other threads, you will find there is quite a lot of it around here!) or not probably hasn't encouraged any actual answers!

With respect you are being somewhat obtuse but speculating on the likely cost or punishment of any offenders serves no useful purpose. That was my point.

There hasn't been any speculation, only asking for facts, that was the point bean-counter made, and the one you ignored. It's only speculation if someone unconnected replies saying "I reckon they'll get 10 years and it'll cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to fix."

Big letters are reasonably easy to do, as you get older the smaller ones, often associated with modelling, become far more difficult. Keep doing it until your sight starts to be a disadvantage and the hands less stable. :D
