    WSR Classic Car Run

Good coverage in the West Somerset Free Press today. Another car ‘event’ made the front page

What I said was "If anyone complains you can be damn sure that scores have noticed, been unhappy but have not said anything, just decided not to come back.", how is that different to "‘some people won’t complain and won’t come back’ (whilst a small majority will complain)?
I wasn't saying there would be a uniform response, I was saying that there was a significant number of people who would silently "vote with their feet". I wasn't claiming they were a majority, all I was claiming, based on a single study, I know, but backed up by years of anecdotal evidence from the hospitality trade, was that this characteristic is quite marked amongst the English. Let the bitchers bitch. Personally I find the OT stuff more interesting that what loco is going to be on what train on some particular day.

On that subject happened to view a Utube video today of the S160 pulling a freight train. As it hove into view with regulator open around a curve into Crowcombe the side to side motion was very noticeable. Cannot be doing the aging track much good at all to have things like that foisted on it. I suspect the civil engineer must be hoping it continues to have air pump problems.

  6. 1115BL I understand, Tony.

I have D6575 but more recent (unofficial) info suggests D6566. Anyone clear this up?

We have had D6575 back at WN for a bit of TLC ahead of the gala!

Ffesterbahn and Corris members both occasionally enjoy such a facility on their home lines already, though without a loco up front for half the journey!

The W&L fielded some 'interesting' passenger workings (involving station benches and a lot of rope) for Eisteddfod goers as well as NG enthusiasts before BR(W) threw in the towel and CIÉ did officially issue 'No Liability' tickets for those brave enough to risk a ride in the (by then) motley surviving carriage conversions used on the legendary monthly T&DLR cattle specials, a couple of years earlier in the 1950's, so there are precedents for formally catering to lunatics ..... sorry, adventurous types such as your good self .... and unlike the 50's examples, you want to do it over well maintained track.

Methinks it'll give the legally learned something to chew on, if nowt else! :D

The Bristol Harbour Railway knows no other way, unless things have changed since I visited. Travelling on a wet day guarantees you a seat...

    Love it! :)

Is that "Cranford" and "St Dunstan's" older sibling? What a wonderful livery.

You could get drier seats and avoid the smuts if you travel in the 2nd class coach, that one has a roof, but no glass in the windows.

I thought that all two cylinder locos had a tendency to do that under power. Take a look at a few Stanier main line clips for example.
