I've a feeling that a flue tube did collapse on Blue Peter at Dinting, but I think it was whilst steam was being raised and at low-ish pressure.

posted on the Unofficial ELR forum today

"the scot was steamed at carnforth today, regarding rumours of it running under the cover of darkness on the circular the problem is that network rail would have to be paid to open Daisyfield box and I think carnforth, large sums of money would be involved. regards keeping its mainline run secret fraid this is near impossible. Anybody who works for the railways and has access to trust or tops any movements on the mainline has to be registered and could be widely viewed."

Anyone else heard anything?? Hopefully the wonderful UK Steam will be able to provide the answer in due course.

Ok I will try again............What kind of work was involved in this overhaul? Was 46115 stripped right down to the frames as it was mentioned somewhere that they were cracked. She must have had one of the most comprehensive overhauls of recent times as she was taken out of action for being in a very poor state. I'm just interested in what's been done that's all.[/quote:1sje2boc]

I don't know if this helps at all, but this pic shows her in 2004.....

In the last week, one person has confidently informed me that 6115 will do a mainline test run later this week, another has said in a couple of weeks time and a third person has said the end of the month. Rumours - don't you just love them!

green five: I just dont think you will get a response to your question here. The Carnforth people keep themselves to themselves, as they have a perfect right so to do, and possibly the best place to find out the answer is at the forthcoming Carnforth open event.

Safe to say though, as mentioned by others, 46115 is likely to have had the equivalent of a "heavy general" at Carnforth, particularly as it will be main line certified.

Turn up on the day and chat to them, but dont expect them to respond on the internet.

I agree with the other comments expressed. What a wonderful addition to potential motive power on the S & C. I hope David Smith has his "Waverley" and "Thames-Clyde" headboards in stock!

Don Burgess has a photo on his site of the as yet unpainted 46115 out on a test run from Carnforth to Hellifield.
I didn't look at the date, but assume it was yesterday. Could actually have been earlier today because the date shown is the 20th.

Looks like young Albert Seymour driving, will have to have a word with him next time he's out on 5407 for his opinion.

YES, but he seems to have upset West Coast as they appear to have managed to run it just after his press deadline. No doubt Robin Jones and Nick Pygott are going to be delighted with that.
