Not sure that's correct. The train weight is often excessive (sometimes comically so) to compensate for the poor acceleration of steam-hauled trains, but the max speed figure is usually about right. In this case, the train speed will be limited by the Black 5 to 60 mph

It does. Acceleration away from stops will be quicker with the combined efforts of two locos but although the cruising speed will be reached sooner, the fact it is 20% less will inevitably have some impact. Plus there might be more watering time perhaps.

Steam Dreams have cancelled Mayflower's London - Faversham run on the 19th July. Loco won't be ready, and nothing else available, apparently.

Looks like both 12th and 19th July have now been removed from their website (almost certainly same reason for both)

Something has gone wrong with today's diesel excursion from Alton to Paignton. It was 99 minutes late off Paignton on the return. Now just over an hour late.

Ah well you see that's what happens when you don't have a steam engine on the front! They are not there to be "show ponies" after all!

47760+47580 departing Bedford with this morning's Radlett - Carlisle Cathedrals Express, with diesel haulage as far as Hellifield where 8F 48151 is due to take over for a run at the Settle & Carlisle.
