West Somerset Railway General Discussion

Discussion in 'Heritage Railways & Centres in the UK' started by gwr4090, Nov 15, 2007.

I think folks will find things are already changing. Just need to look elsewhere than this thread ;)

In a sense, the whole point is that it is an IRREGULAR feature...

Thanks. So the WSRA's only financial contribution to the railway in 2017 was £300? Plenty for you to get your teeth into when you return to the board.

Do you assume the WSRA only function is to give money to the PLC it looks to have plenty off jobs off it own which require funds as well a major boiler repair to start neither of it two locomotives are operational I would think these should be it financial priority.

If you read the annual report then you will see that is exactly what is planned. Likewise the various charitable support organisations.

The £300 was not paid to the PLC but to Blue Anchor Station. Presumably Blue Anchor were the only applicants for a grant. Last year almost £20,000 was granted to the WSR stations.
If you are interested read the accounts.

It works perfectly well fort me, but if you are sufficiently curious try looking at the unofficial SDR facebook page by whatever other means you prefer. In a nutshell the offending item is a modern reflective sign that says "Stop. Unless authorised to proceed"

Think it's a private Facebook group which is why it doesn't work for anyone else but you (and anyone else a member of that specific group).

But presumably something like this would do the job:

I'm sure if the wording isn't quite relevant a modern version could be made up.

O r perhaps this... if the sign in question is for train operations (which I suspect it is)

Compare that with published prices for a WSR one day rover, either advance or (on the day) of £44.10 (£49) for the family (2+2) or individual £18 (£20) and for owt longer than a weekend jaunt down thataway, it's a good deal ....... a very good deal.

A purchaser might get to sample several of the local hostelries favourably mentioned across WSR threads and still have change from tickets bought at the daily rate.... :)
