The 8F left York after its second Whitby trip in April and has not been back since then.

So essentially after all the feverish speculation, the loco situation is utterly unchanged? Glad we cleared that up!

I was looking on RTT for Saphos' ECS move(s) to Bristol for next weekend's tour to Kingwear. Nothing's online yet, but I spotted this path next week - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54981/2018/06/22/advanced

After a bit of Googling, Royal Scot is due to visit the KWVR at the end of the month, so I'm guessing this is its move? By process of elimination that'll put Braunton on (at least) the first Kingswear train, I'd wager.

If West Coast are operating crew training then either they are looking at making use of the route as others have said, adding Windermere as an option on some tours, or who knows maybe if Northern cant operate a service, perhaps someone in NR/ Dft has asked, cant someone else operate it ?

RTT has timings for 6 round trips tomorrow plus ecs workings to / from Oxenholme; current thinking is that this will operate for this week at least

Local MP Tim Farron was at Oxenholme yesterday in the cab of 37669 so something to do with him maybe as he started a petition to get Northern chopped.

It's just nice to see a bit of common sense, and maybe enterprise, being applied on the railway for a change for the benefit of the rail traveller, even if it does mean a change at Oxenholme.
Now if only BR hadn't been so shortsighted as to reduce the branch to nothing more than a long siding who knows what may have been possible.

With that positive view I strongly suggest that you keep away from the thread on the topic on WNXX......

It's no place for the faint hearted - makes spats on here about, inter alia, "Bigchufferitis", seem quite tame...

Haven't seen the discussion elsewhere but sounds quite heated. Is it any coincidence that the subject matter involves a certain Lancashire based TOC given the debates on NP which get most fractious seem to have that in common?
