The loco developed ( unknown ) problems en route and limped into Hellifield at a reported restricted 12 mph; the fault was presumably not too major as it was allowed to return to Carnforth unassisted presumably still at reduced speed.

I would presume from my lineside observation a Carnforth that any further light engine runs will be as part of the shakedown work in preparation for its final test - the main line test run . Note however that the Hellifield - Clitheroe section ( part of the normal test route ) will be closed for another 2 weeks thus I wouldn't be expecting any main line test run until after these works have been completed ( w/c 7/7/08 ); as for LE running - the Carnforth - Hellifield line is unaffected by either these or the forthcoming S&C closure so it could be any time once identified faults are fixed.

    To answer 2 questions

    1. Run has been cancelled due to need toi check locomotive problem ( unknown )

    2. Times are start time from Carnforth WCRC prior to shunting trainset; the average time from Carnforth WCRC start and time of arrival at Carnforth Goods Loop is usually in the region of 1 - 2 hours depending on what shunting is required within WCRC.

From lineside experience I would suggest that look at Carnforth UDG times to identify train running as the times between Carnforth WCRC and Carnforth UDG are subject to lots of variation as they are dependent on both stock shunting and operations within WCRC premises.

It is believed that the problem was a hot box on the bogie, this fits with the slow run back to Carnforth last week. The offending item is now said to be at a certain engineering works in north Manchester.

Now she has been our on the main line where pictures were freely taken, there is little point in wanting any photos removed any more.

Unless it's a cruel trick of the light (or a cunning plan to fool us all...), I don't think there can be much doubt about 46115's final livery from this pic; the boiler cladding not in primer looks Brunswick Green to me.....

Carnforth will have to motor a bit to present the engine in its new livery this weekend!
Good to see a Royal Scot brought back to life, well done Mr Smith and collegues.

looking at the pictures i hope they do a bit of weeding but i don't think i'll be looking at the weeds when I'm there next month. It will be a experience to go round Carnforth since i have never been there before. Whichever colour Scots guardsman comes out in doesn't really matter since like most i am sure it being back in traffic is far more important than the colour.

Ah, my apologies, I am a month ahead of things!

In which case to see her ex-works and repainted will be worth the entry fee alone.

I hope we get an update on how Galatea is progressing on the day.

I have been told that BR green will be the livery for 46115.

BR Green would be the ideal livery (in my own personal opinion) for 46115.
