We're H13/14b joining. Hard to miss the bear and his minder.

I wonder if this is now the new time for a CME off Carlisle. I see from RTT there is now a service train off Carlisle at 1450 that is Appleby at 1532 which was during the water stop on the previous timings.

Noticed that. Northern are haunting us. We were only 5/6 mins behind their service on the old timings. The new times only leave us one train back to Abergavenny.

Either way, still limited to 50, she can get up there quite smartly on her own, can't see any advantage in having to drag a can as well. ;)

Very true as I’d like to see the 8f as it can certainly climb with a heavy load :)

I was lucky enough to be behind her last time, with the CCE, noisy, shut your eyes and it sounded like black un doing a ton..

Fairly sure the 45699 unfit rumour has no substance and started inadvertently by @Johnb erroneously thinking it had failed last time out. There is no evidence it's broken as far as I know?

Not as hot up north. Thought they might have sent BIL over to mitigate the fire risk. An 11 coach train is lightweight for an MN, over the limit for a 5X that means it has to be worked flat out.

Think it was added to by the 50mph restricted 48151 taking the Lakes down the busy WCML on the Lakes yesterday.

Prophetic statement maybe, OHLE isolated and all services at a stand south of Oxenholme

Decent start. Topped Yealand at 34; took 59 onto Grayrigg; Hincaster 50; Oxenholme 42; Grayrigg Summit 28. Bit of a struggle and only recovered to 56 at Tebay Sth; then Scout Green 30; mp36 28; mp37 27; climbing summit mp37 1/4 25.3. Very good considering the Tebay speed.

Looped at Penrith it seems because of slow progress? And someone was suggesting that today could have an 8F!

The summit speed was very creditable too so it just shows how tight the path really is.

Sort of record we could do without - Appleby to Ais Gill Summit in 39m 23s at 21.6. Past summit board 40m 03s at 24.6.

Isn't that the story of the CME?

Lose time on Shap - you are in trouble, in the way and will probably be looped.
Lose time on the S&C - it probably doesn't matter as two and a half hours to leave Hellifield from Carlisle is plenty of time.
