  3. It may be the photographer's eyes or a (very) badly calibrated monitor, but all could do with backing off on the saturation control. Real life simply isn't that vividly-coloured and it does add an unnecessary artificiality to what are otherwise nicely-composed images.

In image post-processing, as with so many things, less is invariably more!

Nice images, but do have to agree the colours seem to be a little strange, to me. But if that is what works for you then they are after all your images.

There is now a detailed update from Ropley MPD on the MHR site:
    http://preservation.watercressline....13th-june-2018-of-d-day-cake-and-other-things

It has news on 506, 925, 34105 and 80150. I wondered why 925 was out of traffic. Seems she had firebox problems. Hopefully she will be back in action next week.

Have noticed that many times with Dave's photos but as you say it is the photographer's prerogative, not that it would go down well in any photo competition.

I was also out and about this last week to grab a run behind what I was surprised to be told was the Black 5's last season before its 10 year overhaul comes up. The MHR is an amazing line. If you didn't know the gradient profile you would think it was flat. We went up and down the Alps from each direction at 25 mph ish. You just couldn't tell the difference apart from the noise from the front in one of the directions. Quite remarkable. This is one of my record shots of the day.

Black Five's last day is 2/9/18 unless something major happens before then. I shall miss sitting here on a Saturday night at 10pm listening to it storm out of Alresford station with a RAT- six heavily loaded Mk1's, a Belle or a Countryman

She sounded fantastic today hauling the the standing room only War on the Line services. Really working hard on the second train from Alton. I wonder if there will be a farewell event for the Five like there was for Wadebridge and the Std 5? Really going to miss the "maid of all work" over the Alps.

Had a good day today. Always great to see the Railway really busy. The West Country Buffet was doing a roaring trade of fish and chips. Disappointing that the weather decided to turn before the Spitfire flypast which was subsequently abandoned. Sods law the sun came out when we got back to Alton!

RN5808.jpg Just a heads-up that 47579 is running this Saturday, 23rd June, in place of 50027 "Lion"

Great to see the class 47 fans out in force today riding behind 47579. The front two or three coaches seem busy with people coming to ride behind 47579.

@73129 Yes, a decent loading of Class 47 fans out today :) Not all in the front coaches, some of us had our usual Griddle (S1105) comfy seats :)

Lion was being actively worked on in Ropley yard. As I walked past the discussions seemed to centre on the options around re-tapping a thread.

The 9F was out during the day and also hauling the RAT in the evening. None of @Hampshire Unit's excellent night time shots from me (too busy serving the beer), however, here's one from the daytime at Medstead (again).

The Black 5 was the other service train (and on the evening's Belle). About 10 weeks left on her ticket if I recall correctly, still looking and sounding fine.

Well Dave did you become a Urie group member. I’ve just renewed my membership. It’s in the post. Only £15.00 per year plus a small donation has well.

Well done chaps. Couldn’t make it Saturday any news to when 30506 will be back in traffic.

    Great photo Steve

    In a word - no!

But the open day, was I believe a success.
