There are fires visible across The Cob from Porthmadog as well (based on facebook pictures today)

That's probably some restored cottage that had been lying derelict for many years until some foreigner came in, bought it and renovated it. The Welsh Nats don't like incomers...

Forget that, Just found the news item.

It's a gorse fire on Morfa Brychan, south west of the town and Cob.

I have to say that WCRC have come up with a brilliant solution to the present situation. Well done and to JS for the info

Same as normal Danny to be honest as it’s happened before and it will again. The steam on the front will look good all the same although I will be watching the football all the same with a cold one ☝️

I thought it was the dragons that caused these cottage fires while searching for Welsh steam coal. That's what the FR magazine reported

Ah yes. Failed in Wales, to the tune of Cwm Rhondda as a parody of adverts by the Welsh Development Agency.

Nationalists, of any territory, seem to have a phobia regarding foreigners. ;)

As a former Midlander living in Wales for the last 10 years I have found the Welsh a most friendly and welcoming bunch, especially if you are willing to respect & embrace their language and culture (not ridicule). In my experience 'issues with foreigners' seems to be a distinctly English issue which I am glad to now live away from.

Seems the steam ban has extended to the East Lancs.

    East Lancashire Railway
    18 hrs ·
    IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Due to the high level of fire risk, all services from Sunday 1st July will be diesel hauled until further notice.

Our teams will be working hard to ensure a steam service returns as soon as possible.

We apologise for any disappointment this may cause, however safety must come first.

    Thank your for your understanding.

This weather is going to continue until the end of July according to current information I assume other lines are putting plans in place. As now there are also water shortages and hose pipe bans on the way.

Current plan at Llangollen is to run with a diesel until Wednesday. The class 37 has been running since Tuesday, with the class 26 joining yesterday for the classic transport weekend. The 26 will then run Monday to Wednesday.

Further decisions will be made early this week I believe.

There were several fires last Monday in difficult to reach places. I believe the fire brigade were involved in sorting a couple of them out.
