This brake van is listed in the VCT wagon survey as being at Mells in Somerset, but is burnt out. Does anyone know anything about it, as to where it came from, if it still exists and who owns it? Looking on Google Earth doesn’t seem to show it around the village. Is the co-partner of 732462/PR4918 listed at Midsomer Norton. Both were bought by Procor and fitted with AAR couplers at one end and used as match wagons for tipplers under repair by Procor.

Yes I am an active volunteer
Would it be (or have been) in Whatley Quarry, which is close to Mells?

No I do not currently volunteer
I have spoken to some people who claim to own it

I think it was part of the preservation attempt at Radstock on the Radstock to Frome line

A bike ride to 'The Abandoned Brake Van' has always been a hit with my children
