Confirmed. The strike is definitely OFF to allow for talks to take place!

Snap shots taken from the Ramcam Swanage Live Cam shows a 'spam-cam' moving around but I'm not convinced an 08 isn't attached...

Assuming that was Wednesday late afternoon 33111 was moving it around.
T9 out on LE test run now, just missed it leaving Swanage but seen on Corfe webcam about 1220.

A further update on the loco situation. With the T9 back in traffic, 34053 SKP has been moved to the RRpad at Norden to go away for attention. Its to have its crank axle dropped to enable a couple of jobs that can't be done with Swanage railways current facilities.

The U & Standard tank are also fit for traffic and 257 Squadron is progressing well although a potential light engine test run yesterday was canceled. Still got fingers crossed for it entering service later in July. Let's hope the back head cladding is up to spec!

Lots of other things going on around the railway can be found in this issue of Swanning Around from June 23rd

I would be grateful for any info about roster plans for next week including diesel turns. I’m planning a sneaky visit! Thanks for any help.

The 33 is rosterd in the diesel diagram of the Green timetable days until the 7th. All being well the 108 DMU resumes duty starting the 10th. There is a chance that the 33's reign might be extended if the DMU maintenance doesn't go to shedule.

As for the steam loco you need someone with more info than I to come along. The Web cam says that the T9 is currently on the service train and the U is on the Sunday lunch. My guess would be that having been out of traffic for a while, the T9 will stay in for a spell with the U deputising if there are any hiccups or if the T9 takes a day or two out for a water change. With the T9 not currently having a blowdown valve it needs more frequent washout to prevent the TDS building up causing priming.

Also, the cabriolets are kinder on the crews during this hot weather.

I believe it should 33012 on diagram this week as 33111 worked it last week, either way the loco hauled turn is far better than the dmu, also the 108 is up for sale.
If you visit Tuesday you should see both 33s working as the Cream Tea service is running.
    Cheers

I see bucking the nationwide trend (we like to do that in Purbeck) steam replaced the usual diesel on the "Cream Tea" today.

There was a fire reported on BBC news affecting the hillside next to the line between Corfe Castle station and the Viaduct. Noone has blamed the train and was put this morning out in a reasonable time although it put the timetable out i imagen...

Not caused by a loco before services began I believe, the BBC website had some details when I looked earlier. Some services did not run between Corfe and Norden for a while.

Helicopters water-bombing the fires on moorland north of Manchester spotted people deliberately starting fires on untouched stretches of moorland on Winter Hill. One has been "detained on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life". Just when you think the human capacity for sheer stupidity has hit rock bottom, somebody decides to start digging.

On the Bournemouth Echo site they saying it was a controlled burn by the Railway that got out of hand.

More annoying was that while they were fighting the fire, the fire brigade was on the receiving end of abuse from some member of the public cause the road was blocked.

Has the SWR Saturday service always been a three car DMU? The reason I ask is that it can't usually be seen on the Corfe webcam while stabled on the down platform yet today nearly all of the Wareham facing carriage is clearly visible.

It all depends where the pilot driver told the SWR to stop in the platform.
Today the driver was told to stop next to a railway phone(on the fence) just after the footbridge

Excellent trip on the SWR link today. Some slick operating at Wareham where the 1240 departure was put into P1 instead of P2 so that the late-running train from Waterloo (which I and several other Corfe Castle passengers was on) would still make the connection. Also very convenient to be able to buy a through ticket to Swanage on the train from very pleasant and helpful SR staff. The whole setup with SWR running to Corfe seems to work extremely well - I do hope it will lead to something on a larger scale in the future.

Grand to see the T9 running, it is such a classic.
