To make clear, what "Heritage railway & Centres in the UK" do you realistically hope to visit in the next 12 months for the first time

    After waiting 20-30 years,
LYN and LYD double-heading a rake of heritage coaches at Woody Bay. Should be able see that on 29-30 September! :)

The intention was to ask where people would be likely to visit for the first time in the near future.

    Very good taste ;)

Certainly I'd argue that the pairing must be one of this year's highlights.....

I try to visit at least one UK heritage line that I've never been to before every year. It's a good target to have as it almost forces one to travel to less convenient or likely places and pleasant surprises can result.

Although not quite what the OP originally asked, my "new line" for 2018 was Swindon & Cricklade which I ticked off in May. 2017 was a double bubble with KESR & Bluebell!

The rest of 2018 will likely see Epping & Ongar visited for the first time in the autumn.

For 2019, Chinnor is high on the list.

None - all of my bucket list would be outside the UK.

Chinnor would be on my list too, I did call in once but it was closed. They seem to be making great strides. Truth to tell I'm getting short of possible new venues in England and Wales.

I'm also running short in England and Wales, apart from Aln Valley which looks worth a visit soon. However if we're talking bucket list, then its not strictly a heritage railway but the Jacobite has been at the top of my to do list for a few years now.

Thinking about going to the Foxfield Summer Gala this weekend. Never been there and fancy filming the locos on that fearsome 1:19 incline.
Also keen to see the Steam Crane in action:

The ones on my list that I would like to do for the first time soonish are the Battlefield Line, Foxfield and Great Central Nottingham north. I might do the Wensleydale too at some stage. The KESR was of those that I meant to visit for a long time and didn't (because of the distance to get there) but I did finally manage to visit a few years ago.

I'm also running short of new experiences within reasonable travelling distance! Partly because I have done a number of personal firsts already this year: Foxfield, Chinnor & Princes Risborough, Pontypool & Blaenafon, and Porthmadog-Rhyd Ddu.

I know I showed you around a bit when you came ;). What did you think of the railway ?

I would say this. If you visit the Swindon and Cricklade make sure you get off the train at Hayes Knoll where the railways workshops are. If it is not busy then sometimes we let the public just wander round. Otherwise it is closed off to public and you can just go in the entrance but just ask a member of staff there if they will show you around as there are quite extensive 5 road sheds with many restoration projects going on in there that you will probably miss if you don't ask someone. There is various diesel shunters, Vintage and Mark 1 Coaches, Owsden Hall etc all being worked on.
