The passing of time has not been kind to my old Agfa slides but here's a selection from my last visit to photograph B R steam in normal everyday service. All that was left after this were the specials on the final weekend in August and the 15 guinea special the following week 3-44735 Staveley 24-07-68.jpg 44735 Windemere 24-07-68.jpg 45073 Accrington 25-07-68.jpg 45231 Carnforth 2 26-07-68.jpg 45268 Borwick 26-7-68.jpg 48167 Rose Grove 25-07-68.jpg 75048 Arnside 26-07-68.jpg Carnforth 1968.jpg 44809 Capernwray viaduct 24-7-68.jpg 44877 Brock 26-07-68.jpg

Thanks it's all down to Photoshop, with the benefit of hindsight I should have used Kodak, Agfa doesn't age too well. I've still got a few thousand to do but not all from this era.

Don't worry - you're not the only photographer who discovered the quality of Agfa processing from that era. My visits in the final months during 1968 are now only memories and any slides I have are kept for their historic - rather than quality - value.

Fred, if you have a decent version of Photoshop it can work wonders, none of the above are masterpieces but here's one example of how the original looked unedited. The hard job is cleaning all the dust and scratches, never use the scanner software as it will take out things like rivet detain and even loco numbers. I use PS CC, it's a tenner a month subscription but you get all the up dates and Lightroom which I never use but some do.

Did you do that to the original or my edit? Whatever you did it's brighter and less contrasty than mine I like it

Yes it is, the first shot is also on the Windermere branch near Staveley.
