Certainly adding 45231 to the WC stable was mentioned when it came available for sale but ultimately outbid by Mr H. Perhaps with the mooted contraction of WC activity though, further loco additions might not now be a priority, especially with two Bulleids seemingly in the queue behind the Stanier 4-6-0s?
Could certainly see LSL being interested though. Depends who Mr Storey would like to see take it on as well, of course.

44767 requires extensive work to the bottom end so who would take it on like this ?.

If I had the money, me. Only loco I've ever really wanted. First steamer I saw as a kid. However I can't. I hope she goes to someone who appreciates her.

Fired it a few times in steam days. Strong and steamed well, what more could you ask for?

Anecdotally, it's worth an extra coach over the normal locos.

It's sort of been on the market for a few months and no takers, yet. At least, not at a price agreeable to both parties.

I hope it does find a buyer soon, it's a shame to see it dismantled after so short as period after its last rebuild.
I well remember this loco as a star performer back in the '80s and '90s, and have always had a soft spot for it as it used to regularly work through my neck of the woods (Halifax & Sowerby Bridge) in the '60s.
Here's hoping the Eurozillions are coming my way tonight!

In this weeks Railway Herald there's a detailed report with goings on at 'The West Shed'. It mentions that 44767 will "soon be departing for pastures new".

I have no idea who's purchased it, but given Ian Riley's excellent track record both with Stanier 5s, and with loco Engineering and overhauls in general, it would certainly be going to a good home if it was heading to Heywood...

Totally agree there, rumour I heard though, some while back now, was that 4767 would be heading back to its place of build .......

Well it has a buyer/has been bought as the previous owner posted this on FB 5 weeks ago in reply to a question about it's current status. (I have removed some names from the post).

"What is the current status of 44767 as of now, as there has seemed to be a few rumours but nothing specifically said as to it's whereabouts or it's condition.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards

I believe a benefactor looked at it but the asking price and condition were poles apart. It would be interesting to know the eventual costs of purchase and overhaul but I guess we never will.

Was 4767 the last loco outshopped under LMS auspices or was it 6256?

The rumours were all along the lines of JH and LSL/RS&GT/LNWR etc etc. But then again every time a loco comes up for sale his name gets mentioned so I don't know how much truth there is in that. Who ever gets her I am looking forward to seeing her in service. If that's on the mainline to heritage lines doesn't matter too much. Good luck to whoever has taken her on.

Indeed and maybe if the rumours prove correct there is a realistic prospect of 4767 being outshopped from Crewe 75 years after first being so?
