No it seems unlikely the protocols will be set at anything less than weekly reviews, it won't be much of a priority to the authorities with all the other "issues" in play at the moment either I wouldn't have thought.

Hope the two Stewards we saw stuck at York yesterday made it to Leicester in time to work this train!

James Shuttleworth of WCRC posted this back in June:

Jacobite is indeed assessed locally and the system works well. All other Routes work on rolling assessment and daily phone conferences with affected operators, underpinned by a fire-risk protocol, which we established jointly some years ago.

Most Routes not unexpectedly currently are declaring High risk, which, in simple terms, mean steam as show pony only. LNW declared a total ban yesterday, without any prior indication - whilst understandable, the legitimacy of that (in the face of the protocol, which is designed to avoid bans) will be reviewed tomorrow morning, in the hope that they fall in line with other Routes and accept reasonable mitigation.

which does sound like the situation is reviewed on a virtually daily basis (excluding weekends I am sure). So we can live in hope.

Well recalled, that was the beginning of the restrictions, on a risk basis perhaps the prolonged dry spell causes the review period to be necessarily extended though? As others have commented it seems logical that there would need to be sustained rainfall to bring the status to a point where it was even viable to consider a further review.

At a guess, the weight of a MN not powering, plus the train, would be a fair old load for a 37 starting off on a presumably damp rail so it's hardly surprising the steamer needs to do some work.

Seems like a shared endeavour today locowise so that's a step up from previously.

A little late, my effort at Helwith Bridge, the sun was out 5 minutes before it arrived, the paraffin can sounded to be doing most of the work. P1070127.JPG
