£4500? Really?

For a reproduction (so no historical value) and with a flaw (so no practical use).

 

Some people would still use it to set up a new-build group.

While a rich person would use it as a plant pot.

Advert says £2500 n£4500, and doesn't say it's a replica either, but I still doubt it it will fetch that,.

As others have said, the price has been dropped. Was definitely £4500 this morning.

It says ‘new and unused’ which means it’s almost certainly a reproduction. If it was a genuine 1950s item then surely they would be stating that , to justify the price.

 

Now says "used".

does it have "made in India" stamped underneath ?

 

How can it be "used" - there aren't any bolt holes in the flange. Unless the seller means used as a plantpot!

That was going to be my next question. Being an non-expert on loco building I was going to ask how it would be fixed onto the boiler.

 

Aren't they bolted through from underneath, inside the smokebox?

 

No, the holes are drilled in the chimney first.

 

Before or after they set up a Facebook poll to choose what colour the finished locomotive should be painted and whether it should run on the main line or not?
