Cracking deal compared to £21 for a one day Freedom of the Line, and far cheaper than using my residents card.

Popped over to Eastleigh this morning and noted green DMU in works yard - I assume this is the Swanage unit? Any idea when due to be delivered back to the railway and will it go by rail?

According to Mogul’s previous post they are due back at Swanage by the Autumn.

After all this work getting them mainline registered, I’d assume they’ll go back by rail and under their own power. After all they arrived by rail, when some vehicles were in scrap condition.

Many thanks for info. Will keep an eye out for when they are likely to head back!

Slight service interruption this afternoon whilst trains terminated at Corfe.
Stumbled on this as I approached Corfe on my way back from photographing the Hastings Unit at Wool. No idea if started by a loco or not.
    Service now resumed to Norden.

I believe 08436 may have been out of site. It was what appeared to have pushed it on to the coaling stage.

Just had it confirmed that the SWR Wareham shuttles WILL operate tomorrow (following suspension of RMT strike).

A friend of mine has just e-mailed me to say that someone reversed into the buffers at Swanage and demolished them.

He didn't give any details as to which loco was involved.

Been past twice today on the road side so "demolish" may be a strong word as I have noticed nothing. T9 took a time to run round this morning and then there was some study of the rear of the tender, but still in service so maybe there was some minor incident. I will have a look when I am down the town later.

    Demolished?
    Hmm.
The buffers at Swanage form the retaining wall and footpath which is at least 8 foot wide. A mild exaggeration of the facts one thinks

A bit more info from my friend suggests that the incident made more noise than it did damage.

Black engines, green trains, bit o’ scenery. What’s not to like?
