I know that the NRM does have a sizable amount of locos running now but is there a live steam presence at the NRM that isn't a loco there for main line runs? I'm asking because I think that is one thing the NRM at York is missing

On top of that, does the NRM still have/ use the Broad gauge demonstration track and is there a standard gauge demo line? (When I went, the week before it became free #-o ) there was only the miniature railway operating (with a diseasel).

There's a section of Broad gauge in the Car park, Mallard was sat on it at the Reunion, behind Iron Duke's Tender.

On that subject, how do Broad gauge get in to the museum, as due to clearences, they have to come in by rail, but the broad gauge stops just outside the gate!

That bit of Broad Gauge is there precisely so Iron Duke can go in the Great Hall. It went in by road - if you take the chimney off and use a wafer bed trailer, it will go under the Leeman Road bridge.

  9. why is the dukes tender sat outside looking quite sorry for itself

Because it won't fit in the Great Hall at the moment.
