I can't see how someone can be a good guy one minute, and some kind of devils apprentice the next, this just seems to be totally blown out of all proportions,

 

As I saw it in March things looked very promising. Note that I added the caveat that it was not perfect and there was much to do. Sadly I was correct. At the time the signs looked good but as you well know hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the present time I see little point in speculation until more facts emerge.

 

Says he, posting hearsay from "sources". On a side note, every time you mention "facts" now, all I think of is this:

 

That's an interesting statement, since you have on several occasions asked (in quite strong terms IMHO) for debate and suggestions from other forum members to stop and every suggestion about other railway company/supporter relationships and their structure you have shot down as not relevant because the WSR is different.

The irony was certainly not lost on me!

 

I always believed in the statement, "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord", but it appears a few junior directors from the plc and formerly of the WSRA have decided that vengeance are theirs to mete out as they see fit. A quick look at the Companies Act will show where this is probably going.

 

Yorkshireman is right; the WSR certainly is different from the majority of other heritage railways. Perhaps it would do better if it wasn't

 

What I have said is that ill informed speculation by those who have no actual knowledge is pointless and does harm. It is noticable that much of this comes from those who have no connection with or involvement in the railway.

 

Once again you are trying to lay this at anyone's door but your own. The vast majority of speculation on this matter has come from within the WSR. Posters like myself from "outside" have largely kept our comments to lamenting the situation and expressing frustration that yet again the WSR is having disagreements - I hope we can at least all agree that there is a disagreement! The only times we might have gone beyond that is to suggest that maybe more than individual people need to change, which isn't speculation, merely a suggestion on how to move forward. FACTS, Hercule, Facts!...

 

More West Somerset parochialism on display. Perhaps it’s time to recognise that many of those commenting have considerable relevant expertise and knowledge in comparable organisations. You are of course at liberty to discount such experience as irrelevant, but there is a limit to how long you can say that there is no issue on the WSR beyond a seemingly inexhaustible and ever-changing supply of bad apples.

Earlier I was desperately trying to find that spitting image sketch/song about the metropolitan police claiming there was "one bad apple" which deteriorated into "a whole bad barrel" or similar. Sadly I couldn't find it, it seemed appropriate enough.

 

Well , my opinion has remained the same , however I might not be so well informed as others .

 

What is a great pity is that there are so many people on the WSR giving their time and working hard to make the railway run effectively but at the same time the leadership of some of the constituent parts of the so called family are too busy frequently re-arranging the deck chairs!

 

I was shocked at first but I'm afraid that is what appears to have happened .

 

Or maybe "The HELP !!! line" ?

 

A Hard Days Night was on Film 4 earlier, perhaps the wrong Beatles Film was filmed on the WSR? Although Magical Mystery Tour could be more appropriate?

Open and robust debate based on facts is fine. Wild speculation by those who make it up as they go along just to stir the pot is not. They are two very different things.
