I couldn't find the full information either on the new layout ...... Their site now is really difficult to navigate (on my pad) so I seldom try

Getting to the price of annual tickets on the WSR website on my iPad is only 3 clicks (or whatever you call it on a touch screen) from the home screen. Seems quite intuitive to me. I’m looking at buying an annual pass as well.

Well, I have an annual pass.

I got a days leave today (Monday 27.8) rocked up at 10.35 to get Braunton at 11.15. I was suprised to see a train in the platform, wandered over to see the 10.25 go - it had already gone and it was Braunton & the 11.15 in the platform.

With 50 mins to kill and no children in tow, I was able to enjoy an unhurried browse in the shop, where a second hand book on White Star Line was clearly of interest to my Titanic obsessed 9 year old son and I also picked up the first of the books on GWR goods operations. Both the lady on the shop counter & the cafe staff were on good form and very welcoming.

Left on time, @Robin Moira White said that a trip on the WSR gave over an hour of climbing, but Braunton barely made a sound - not that I am complaining. First stop was Washford for a trip round the station and an opportunity to purchase the summer & winter 1949 WTT's for the S&D

    This made me laugh

    2018-08-27 13.12.20.jpg

Then a ride behind the S160 to Minehead - the whistle is wonderful and several passengers commented on it.

After an ice cream and coffee time to return behind Braunton.

Everything ran to time, the staff were excellent, as requested I didnt fall into the pit in the shed at Washford, and Braunton racing away from Stogumber up to Crowcombe was an experience unlike any other I have had on the WSR

    Can anybody help?
I'm spending a few days on the West Somerset next week and want to enjoy a round trip behind Braunton.
The only day of my visit that she is rostered to operate is Thursday 6th September, with a diagram starting at Bishops Lydeard.
My question is, can anybody tell me if this will be the 10:15 departure or, as I suspect, the 11:15 departure.
Which service will she take back to Bishops Lydeard as I shall have to arrange transport from there to Blue Anchor?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Stef.

WSR.org today carries a statement from the Gala Planning Team. They state that Ivatt 41312 has been added to the list
of locos visiting the Railway for the Autumn Steam Gala.

The statement also contains the line 'our planned additional guest is now not available'. Is this an additional guest which
was being negotiated and not yet announced or is it, as I fear, 73082 'Camelot', which had been announced previously as a guest.

The official WSR website makes no mention of 'Camelot', nor does the statement reproduced by Steve Edge. I have visited the Bluebell Railway website and FaecesBook pages and am none the wiser.

    Maybe @Jamessquared can enlighten us.

    Stef.

73082 is the first loco mentioned as coming in the statement on wsr.org.uk.

Thanks for that, Roger. Somehow I managed to overlook that bit. I'm very happy that my fears were unfounded.

Thanks Tom. This mystery has now been cleared up (post # 13911).

For those who do not use Facebook here is the full article:

We are pleased to be able to announce another visiting loco for our forthcoming autumn gala between 27th and 30th September.
Courtesy of owner John Jones and the Mid Hants Rly we will be having a visit by little Ivatt Class 2 tank No. 41312. This loco has a long pedigree of service in both the west country and south coast branch lines of the old Southern Region of BR. We plan to use the loco on some short local services in between the full line trains and on some shuttles down to the platform and triangle at Norton Fitzwarren.
We are still working an a possible further visitor, but our planned additional guest is now not available so its back to the drawing board. We'll update when and if we have something confirmed.
The Ivatt will be joining visiting BR Class 5 No. 73082, Bulleid No. 34052 "Lord Dowding" (actually 34046 "Braunton" of course) and Manors 7820 "Dinmore Manor" and 7822 "Foxcote Manor", Hall 6960 "Raveningham Hall", S&D 7F No. 53808 and S160 No. 6046. Our own Manor No. 7828 "Odney Manor" may well be on display at Minehead but will not be ready in time to take part in this gala.

Is there a theme to the autumn gala?

On the other WSR thread there has been mention of the track relaying for the Flying Scotsman's visit being done by contractors at short notice. Assuming that that is correct, why was relaying considered necessary when there are fairly frequent visits by other large locos, some of them one size larger than FS? Was it just that FS would be making a lot of runs up and down the line?

Also, how were the sections to be relayed identified? Was that also at short notice or were certain sections already known to be dodgy in some respect?

  18. Kate Beard (Retail Manager WSRA Promotions) writes: "For the month of September, Bishops Lydeard Station Shop is offering 15% off the list price of all locomotives currently in stock except where items are already marked with a 'Reduced' ticket. Our offer of 20% off the price of three or more coaches and/or wagons will also continue throughout the month."
