Is it me, or does that look more like an L than a 4?

From seeing the Loco at Hellifield there is no clue as to what colour it is going to be painted - the colour it was ,was from the re-build + metal primer in certain places.

How long does it take to paint a loco ? asking because its the Carnforth open day in less than two weeks and I cant see it being finished for then.

Well some liveries are more elaborate than others and therefore longer to apply. (Big, BIG, timescale difference for painting a C class in BR black or SECR fully lined passenger green for instance!). For BR green on 46115 it's the lining that will take the time I imagine - perhaps for the open weekend they'll just get it to an 'economy' BR green (sans lining) as per 70013 was initially...?

I say BR green...they won't be painting it any other colour will they....really?....really really??? :)

A lot depends on the weather, if it is very dry you may get several coats on in a day, other times you may not even be able to paint.

That also depends on whether or not you have a building in which you can paint things like engines and trains. I imagine Carnforth has such a build it can use for painting. Whatever the colour or even if it's painted i am looking forward to seeing it. Although i did see it for many years at Crewe without realising it was a royal scot (Thought it was a Black 5).

I think I am correct in stating that at Crewe Works in B.R. days a loco that received a heavy general overhaul spent longer in the paint shop than it did in the erecting shop.

Thanks for the photos and videos that have been posted on line. I realise that posting a set of timings is not recommended, but i was keen to see if it was 6115! I m sorry that i couldnt update the site when the service had left but i was stuck in an all day meeting. Re the colour - i would prefer to see it as 6115 in black, but i dont mind if it goes in green, after all the person who pays the bills should make the choice! At long last the loco can actually steam again.

So it was green after all.
She looks fantastic. Hard to believe she is the same loco seen only a few weeks earlier in primer with a black tender.
Will look great back on the main line.
When is her first outing in green?

Congratulations to the Carnforth team for a superb revival of 46115.

...Now the Bressingham people can repaint 46100 in its spurious "LMS Crimson" livery, and everyone will be happy!

    Roll on "Galatea"....

Would have preferred to have seen her in LMS black, but the locomotive does look magnificent. Congrates to the Carnforth team for doing what the other failed to do.

Hot out the camera, posing in the early morning sun around 8:45am: http://david1984.fotopic.net/p52211644.html

Have to say what a handsome machine, nearly gives a Castle a run for it's money in the looks department.
