Fowler 2-6-4tank. It's powerful enough to handle any train on any preserved line, including heavy Santa specials. It can have a variety of liveries to keep things looking different, and could even be fitted to run things like the Whitby's or Cromers etc.

Again, it exists. I think its not beyond the abilities of the enginerring* fraternity to put something together from a standard 4 plant
standard pony/ trailing truck and 8 x 5ft drivers, or even complete the 2-6-4 wide firebox tank, based on the V4, that Gresley sketched out.

As the genie doesn't seem to have specified the gauge of my new railway. ...... Gooch 4-4-0 saddle tanks please!

I think one is stuffed and mounted in the National collection, but I believe there were two classes, and I'm thinking of the other sort ;)

Will be fun to show and explain to some of my grandsons.
Especially if driver cooperates by lowering and lifting while stationary

In all seriousness, I have sometimes wondered whether there might be a market for a new batch of LBSCR E2 0-6-0Ts. But I doubt any of them would actually end up in LBSCR livery...they'd all be blue with smiley faces! :p

I doubt it the way Thomas events on heritage railways are going, every year another couple of railways drop it.

You know they did that in the USA? There's six "official" Thomas' engines, of which only one is actually powered. All were constructed by the Strasbourg Railroad. I suspect if someone offered to do the same here with Mattel they might offer some money...

    Moel Tryfan.

Or if you have to go for a wider gauge, the GCR 9N class (aka the LNER A5).

How about a Vulcan Built 4-8-0 Argentina Class 15B converted to standard gauge. Perhaps a match for anything here? And a GMA Garrett similarly converted, of course!

A pair of working replicas of 'Lion', one done as 'Thunderbolt', allowing a new 'Titfield Thunderbolt' theme day?
