Anyone know what is hauling this "special" that is running on Friday? Must be Diesel hauled due to the speed given on RTT.

A friend told me yesterday that something special was coming through Aldershot on Friday morning but he had no idea what it will be. I looked on RTT and it says it is being operated by Locomotive Services. This probably explains why the MHR is closed to the Public on Friday. A private hire by Mr Hosking perhaps?

    A 95mph timing suggests a class 47. LSL own a few.

Almost certainly. Reported elsewhere as being underway from Crewe to Southall with t'n't 47s. Am guessing this will be the same motive power for tomorrow.

A friend of mine seems to think JH has just turned 60 so maybe a birthday bash?
If you have a 1:1 scale train set seems a shame not to play with it!

You're not supposed to photograph that train - it's an official secret

I declined to take any photos from my garden, but it did look remarkably smart - Krug Club Car and all! I had a 47 chugging away at the end of the garden for about an hour though

ooops! image of 'stealth train' already posted on MHR pages....! Even the footbridge at Medstead was closed. Must admit that I thought this was a public footpath?

The MHR must have the lowest number of bridges over the line per mile than any heritage railway - with corresponding photo opportunities.

Kent & East Sussex Railway, current operating line just over ten miles.

Current number of bridges over the line ... erm ... Nil.

Level crossings however, are a different story.

I can think of seven, not including station footbridges, so hardly a complete absence of overbridges.

I think it's somewhat churlish not to supply neighbours with some free samples....! If we have a barby and the neighbours are in their garden we always offer a beer across the fence!!

I agree assuming that by Hampshire Hunt you mean the one near the top of the climb from Alton to Medstead that years ago used to be accessible by an overgrown path between a couple of bungalows. I assume that is officially not accessible these days as I do not think it was an official footpath.

Happened to be out dog walking yesterday, the SW main line was pretty empty due to industrial action, and then I accidentally saw this
