I was able to take this last weekend. Just hope it doesn’t rain this coming weekend with 45379 and Brush type 4 47579 also on it’s running day and not forgetting 92212 which is also in service this coming weekend.

Will be nice to catch the Black 5 tomorrow before it's withdrawn... Okay, so it's not Southern, and as such goes against my general principles (!), but it's a lovely loco, and one I've grown up with.
Still, give me a Bulleid anytime! ;)

The Black Five works the Alresford set and the RAT. The Std 4 works the Alton set and the Watercress Belle. The 47 does three round trips, departing Alresford at 10:10, 12:15 and 14:15. Departing Alton at 11:15, 13:20 and 15:25. IMGP7226.jpg

A few photos from today. Front coach behind 47579 had a fair few people in it. D4A88F5E-9085-45FF-B4C7-B832459940FB.jpeg 1F791AF9-C437-4DF1-8671-87606E945F94.jpeg 1B498C23-9DCB-497E-9AA8-DBC7ED2488E5.jpeg EA4C0C44-9DAC-416E-8682-41CCE844784F.jpeg

I think the 47 is producing more exhaust than the "kettles"!

Like others on here, popped over to Medstead on Thursday for last sight of Black 5 for a while. Looked in good fettle and sure it will be missed by the railway until overhaul completed. 45379-4 Medstead 06092018.jpg

A month ago when I had a run with it the crew at the time observed that it was "worn out". So time for a lot of tlc then.

It is hard to believe that I filmed my first run behind her eight years ago tomorrow when she was fresh out of the box. Where has the time gone

I didn't have time to say farewell this weekend and had my final run behind her at War on the line in June. Does anyone know how far down the overhaul queue she will be? If she is rather worn out this might push her back a bit.

45379 put in an excellent showing last night on the RAT, fully loaded, 6 up on her last evening/night run.
Started the evening wearing the usual Real Ale Train headboard, finished the night with the "The End" headboard (a la 45318) which she also wore today.

There are a few atmospheric images from her on shed last night wearing the headboard after hauling the ECS back to Ropley on my flickr and Facebook (MHR groups).
I shan't be posting them here as I was "being lazy using a high ISO handheld".
