The Scots were definitely over height. As a matter of fact there were drawings prepared in the early 60's for height reduction, which were to be applied to the whole class. But that plan was abandoned in 1962, though the drawings did survive. Not sure if West Coast have followed them though. Bressingham certainly don't seem to have.

Im sure one of the mags said about an inch had been lopped off, mostly likely the chimney/cab roof, unlike 6024 you'd be hard pressed to tell.

I spotted her old smokebox door in the workshop,

reading the above I wonder if that's her original chimney to the left, close up:

Not sure if Galatea is single or double, its so long since I saw her in one (very sorry) piece.

Now that is something very special indeed. I have read this thread with great interest and call me what you will but i didnt like the linded black LMS coating she had last (Although i only saw pictures) but seriously, i cannot wait to meet this engine in the flesh, she looks absolutely stunning!

Very well done to all concerned in getting her into this position, im drooling!

Would make sense if the chimney is from 46115 - hasn't the loco now got a cut-down version to conform to the main-line loading gauge?

Christmas, perhaps? I'd expect to see her on the S&C, or maybe the Cumbrian Coast route, first. Closer to home and several "loco TBA" tours in the diary...

The last time i saw 6115 was at Tyseley in her LMS black and looks as like the restoration had stopped when it was there. But good to she her all done now and she looks bloody excellent in BR Green.

I recall reading that 46115 will only haul West Coast trains, and so unless the Torbay Express runs are passed to WCRC instead of EWS, it seems an unlikely occurrence unfortunately.

WCRC are the only mainline crews that have the safety case to run vac braked trains. EWS only operate air braked only trains.

I have to say the photos of the loco do look superb, congratulations to the WC team who have taken a very poorly loco and put her back into top fettle. I would prefer to see the loco in LMS lined black, as thats the memory i have of the loco from when i went to Dinting when i was 5 yrs old for a birthday treat. However i didnt pay the bill to put it back into one piece, so i dont mind, just seeing the loco on the main line and riding behind her is satisfaction enough!

So far this is the only trip she is listed for in the rest of 2008. I guess DS won't let her out much as predicted elsewhere on this forum.

Up to Mr Smith how he spends his money and what he does with his locos of course but it seems mighty strange to spend a small fortune getting 46115 up and running and then run it only on rare occasions. I should imagine she's at the top of many lists of "required haulage" so a few sell out tours are guaranteed I should imagine once she's let out for us mere mortals to sample.

Im sure she'll be let out to play on the right train at the right price, i imagine Mr Smith would like to see his new toy stretch her legs too.
