There certainly seems to be one / some P&DSR drivers who 'go for it' up to Churston, while others take it more sedately (no prizes for guessing which style I prefer)......

.... but if you cant guess, see: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VZPExhFykPU

It looks like somebody (PW staff?) in a hi-viz vest who then steps out of the way as the train approaches,

Its a kite-surfer's kite. Broadsands beach is directly behind the viaduct in that view, and you can often see those in the background. If I recall it was a good easterly wind that day - always brings the kite surfers out...

Never get bored. Even with the regular P&DSR stuff - which can be the same loco for several weeks. Any loco hauling a good load up that bank with that backdrop is rewarding - every time, and seeing Kings, Castles, A4's B of B's, Princesses, BR 8P's (although I missed the Duke's un-planned visit), on the Torbay's and other specials, is a great privilege I can tell you.

O I bet. When I go on holiday to Waterside it is great fun watching the locomotives power towards Churston, espically as the caravan we stay in (194) has a view looking straight onto the PDSR and the sea.

I am looking forward to seeing 4277 (if I can) on my holiday in 2 weeks time, pitty about them selling 6435, she was probably my favourite PDSR loco.

4277 just gone up to Churston with a headboard on. Connected to the naming ceremony I would guess. Wife said "there are blokes in the field" - A sure sign of something special!!
Mind you, for all the times I have seen people videoing in the field, I've never seen a clip on Youtube from that location..... :-k

Here is a map. Bothe routes in green lead down from the A379 Dartmouth Road.
If taking the route under Broadsands Viaduct, you need to turn right through a hole in the hedge after going under the viaduct - mind the strands of barbed wire!
The other way is more civilised, and goes under the railway via a small bridge.
Might try the field on Sunday for the Torbay Express

I also have pics one included below I wil also add my others to my fotopic site when I get chance.

I would like to debate with the three extra coiaches though as they only added Zoe and Jessica to the formation. This was also what made the train unusually late.

Also whilst on the platform there seemed to be a bit of debate about how long BC has been at the PDSR as the 'Thankyou Barry' headboard (That'll be the one Stu as she's apparently been carrying it all week or the service engine did, I also heard the King carried it on the outward journey to Kingswear on Sunday, but reverted to Torbay Headboard for the return) said 1972 - 2008 which is 36 years but I'm sure he's been involved for longer than that and even longer still if you include the South Devon section (As it was still the DVR).

As far as I know she's been working for most of the last few days as far as I'm aware (Second hand Info) so in theory she should still be on her turn unless they are due to change again. The only one who can answer that question is Tuffer but its only been a week so I wouldn't have thought so. Surely though the Manor is still worth seeing

No, 4277 dropped on after Monday evening and 5239 / 7827 are now doing the turns.
One if these two is likely to be in charge for Friday-Sunday, then quite possibly the same pair from Monday, as the Manor only commenced it's roster on 28 July.

For the record 4277 worked 25 July - 4 August which is a shorter stint than normal. 3 weeks is about the average.

    Hope that helps.

Seems I'm going to be unlucky seeing 4277 this time I'm down !
I'm taken the laptop with me so I'll keep an eye on here just in case Tuffer has any info.

An idea (Tuffer, perhaps you could ask?) How about a loco roster page on the new website. Shouldn't be over complex - what with their only being three locos!
