Does anyone know much about this one? Advertising and UK Steam say clockwise, but there are some times on RTT which are anticlockwise...

yep, that's anticlockwise, and an hour at Hellifield , must be a Morecambe/Heysham passing.

Interesting there is a pathed signal check at Langho. Doesn’t look to be immediately following anything down.

Hopefully it will be Steam alone with no Wilpshire bank to contend with

I certainly hope that there are no checks anywhere since the load including the support coach is 13! I believe the 8F will be returning to Carnforth after todays SSE to work this trip.

Remember it is anti-clockwise around the circuit so that means down the hill at Wilpshire Bank.

The climb to Giggleswick out of Settle Jnc can be a little challenging to some combinations!

Chance would be a fine thing, probably one of only half a dozen trains at Hellifield on Saturday and no service on the Settle Jct to Carnforth line.

Completely full train. Looking forward to it--apart from trying to park in Carnforth!

It's been observed many times that the Ribble Valley, Hellifield, little north western are really under utilised for passenger traffic. Even the Dalesman service Northern is supposed to run from Blackpool via Hellifield to Carlisle seems beset with cancellations. Opportunities galore for a locally based TOC?

Just in case it has eluded the Southern fraternity, Northern is on strike for six Saturdays over DOO. Hence the emptiness of Hellifield. My guess for Sat is we'll leave when we're ready to go. Another guess is that the path was planned on the assumption the Northern trains would be running. I was hoping for class 8 power and looks like I've got it, different colour though.

More generally my perception of the LNW service is that we're pretty lucky to have what we've got. But that's O/T.

The climb into Hellifield off the Blackburn line can also cause some problems - having spent a prolonged period of time one day in the 80's waiting for Scotsman to try and restart the ECS of a tour to bring it back into the station for the run back to Carnforth.

None of the gradients anti-clockwise are as formidable as Wilpshire though, in principle!
Having said that, even if checked at Whalley, I'd put a decent wager on the 8F coping well with 13 on up Wilpshire so perhaps the routing was originally planned with a different loco in mind?

From Steve's clips it looks like the cleaning of the tender has been a bit vigorous and taken most of the BR emblem off?
    Storming performance as usual, nontheless.

The emblem has been like that for some years now. I have some shots from 2014 it was looking in a similar state.

Nice one Shep, looked like Peter was driving South of Lancaster as Mick was standing behind him watching.

That matches what I was told. Going that way around, Wilpshire and Eldroth seemed to be well under control. The toughest climb seemed to be Hoghton with a signal check at Bamber Bridge for the level crossing. What's the gradient there?

Good driving Mr Thompson seeing that we didn't stop at Preston or Blackburn!

Is 13 on including three or four Pullmans the heaviest of the year? I thought they'd not find 13 standard coaches.

Steady drive to be honest to Wilpshire and even the 30mph speed limit only just allowed me to get Gisburn as I could hear her and just managed to press record in time although I missed a tad of her rounding the bend .
