WSR Autumn Steam Gala 27-30 September 2018

By judging to the WTT i don't think there is an spare engine.

 

I think that there is a loco of the same class available to come and fill 80104's spot.

 

6233 has returned to the Midland RC at Butterley after the recent SVR gala.

It would have looked superb with the blood and custard set.<BJ>

 

When do other guest locos arrive? Thxs

 

73082 arrived last week, 41312 arrived yesterday. That's the line-up complete unless a late guest is announced.

 

80072 replacing 80104.

 

I thought it would be too late to get a replacement. Well done to all concerned.

 

I will be attending to work Minehead signal box on Sunday (and to wave at the trains from my garden on Saturday). Do return the favour!

Now I have to go to Swanage to get 80104, no complaints from me as it means I finally get to see to a Duchess.

I think it is OK to blurt this. And I'm sure folks need to know. There will be some changes to the loco roster, it seems. Once arrived by road, there'll be FTR and prep for 80072 which will delay its entry into service by a few hours on Thu. Also, I gather 6046 is off the menu, and there'll be a turn or two worked by a classic cross-country diesel, to fulfil the timetable. People on the WSR have worked overtime to cover/re-jig some enforced last minute changes. I'm sure the WSR will provide a lot more detail on these changes on Weds if not sooner. It still looks like a fab Gala to me.

Could someone please tell me if when arriving on the triangle the whole train reverses of the loco comes off and turns and re-couples.

I hope to be able to photograph like the military train on the triangle. Thank you.

 

Passenger trains stop at the platform, uncouple, turn and recouple. Freight trains can do either.

 

£4 for something that is already wrong! I understand the Railway needs to make money but charging for basic roster information is ridiculous. All these guest engines are hired in but you’ve no idea where they’ll be or if you’ll be able to travel behind them unless you pay £4 on top of your ticket and even then you don’t know if it’s correct! The SVR is just as bad.

What really frustrates me is that for diesel galas the info is freely available a people won’t come yet steam enthusiasts seem quite content with the situation!

Have a look at the NYMR gala thread where they have published their roster for free, it isnt that difficult!

 

The Bluebell have published the roster for their "Giants of Steam" on their website, the Mid-Hants usually do the same.

 

I find that in past years my ability to multi-task has improved markedly.

A better question is WILL this be something you will find me doing at the weekend. The answer is ‘no’!
