The Typhoon is currently at RAF Coningsby, should be back in Hendon shortly. If you have the money, give it to this lot who seem to be doing a pretty good job of building a new Typhoon.

There’s a Typhoon being rebuilt to flying status in the U.K. https://hawkertyphoon.com/ There was also a non flying Typhoon on display with the BBMF at Coningsby this summer. Returned to the RAF Museum now. That is a Mk.1b.

EDIT : 5944 beat me to it.

Agreed, but that hasn't stopped two separate groups starting to build Gresley P2s, which were arguably little more successful.

The difference is that the P2s were let down by certain details which can be and will be put right, at least in the Darlington new build; whereas there was nothing particularly wrong with the Great Bear except that its only apparent raison d'être was publicity. It was a Star with a much bigger boiler, which worked OK but was no more use in traffic than an ordinary Star.

But why are we discussing any of this in the DoC thread?

It's a variation of the second law of Nat Pres...

(There are five immutable laws of Nat Pres, that can be relied on with the same certainty as a plate that falls off a table will smash, but a pile of broken china will never re-assemble into a plate:
    1. All LMS threads eventually end up discussing the 2P
    2. All new build threads converge on The Great Bear
    3. On any LNER thread, someone will castigate the Class A1/1. A collective sharp intake of breath will be drawn, just praying that ... but no, 20 pages of thrust and parry follow between the Cavaliers and Roundheads of the LNER camp.
    4. On any general railway thread, a railway going from somewhere to somewhere will be shown to be improved only if it reduces its length such as to run from nowhere to nowhere, preferably with no possibility of public transport access to any point within 10 miles.
    5. However many West Somerset threads get locked by the mods, another will spring up and argument will continue unabated.
Of those, the fifth is widely considered to have the status of a unified theory of forum behaviour from which all other laws derive. Billions of years from now, when the sun has ballooned into red dwarf and only cockroaches roam the barren surface of the earth, somewhere beyond dusty ruins of Taunton two cockroaches will get into an argument that the roaches east of Taunton don't know what they are talking about ...)

Tom, I never took your post as comedic, rather, over dramatised, lacking in real facts and written to provoke a reply. Perfect for the SS.

Good grief. Sense of humour failure. I say this as the clear architect of point number 3!

Lighten up please. We’re all rail fans here.

Occasionally we can have a bit of fun, surely?
