......and the train is full - UKR have a waiting list. If you can't get on this one, there is one more non-pullman public operation for Clan Line before next year, this being the London to Sherborne on Thur 20th Dec. Carols or the Digby Tap - or both! We're hoping for a fast path between Woking and Worting Jn in both directions; fingers crossed that NR can agree to the paths we have identified.

Am I right in thinking this may be the last steam run between Old Oak Junction and Greenford East Junction via Park Royal, as the route in its current form will be closed in December? I seem to recall something along these lines.

Anyway, looking forward to the run as it's a varied route with a good taste of town and country. Also nice to be returning via Streatham and Brixton rather than the direct route.

66 or 67 I suppose. What is interesting is that after returning to Victoria Clan Line gets dragged all the way to Willesden by a roundabout route and then doesn't get back to Stewarts Lane till after 10pm. Is there an engineering blockade on the direct route from Victoria to SL?

Yes there is, and for the same reason Clan Line is going over to the GWML earlier than the departure time requires. Makes for a much longer day for the support crew than the passengers unfortunately.

MNLPS have posted this on their Face-ache page this afternoon: "We're delighted to announce that Clan Line has passed its fitness to run exam and we'll be out for tomorrow's trip around the Chilterns and Surrey Hills." Weather looks awful - wet, with an easterly breeze. Not a problem for the passengers on board, of course, but might keep the linesiders indoors.

Thanks for that. All we hope is that we get a rare HST up from Newport early in the morning.

Great news. This will be my first trip with Clan Line since her blistering performance on the Cornishman a few months ago, so I'm sure it should be another day to remember. Who cares about the weather when we've got an immaculately-presented Merchant Navy at the head of the train? Due to the engineering blockade of the Cotswold Line I'll be getting an HST down from Worcester via Gloucester and Sapperton along the Golden Valley line.

No rain forecast for the Chilterns, After High Wycombe I will try and catch it on the Bicester - Oxford line, a new route for steam unless I'm mistaken so I won't be indoors.

I'm not sure it's a new route for steam. Didn't 60103 go that way on 31st May?

Indeed. FS came this was a couple of times earlier this year.

Forecast has improved a bit since lunchtime today, but BBC still saying rain around HiWy starting between 12 and 1. It may be academic for me though. My car's playing up. The best I'm like to manage is a quick bike ride to Islip for a still shot (can't carry the video gear on my little folding bike!)

I'm thinking of Islip, I think there's anew bridge south of the station. Is it any good?

Phew! I was hoping for someone from MNLPS to post something like this to inform us that all is OK. Thanks for letting us know. My wife & I are on this and am hoping that Clan Line will be performing at her usual standard. As Mr Shireman is on the trip, I'll leave it to him provide us all with a detailed performance log, but with the run featuring three new sections of track for me, a four-course meal and one of my favourite locos up front, I'm looking forward to it.
