Ceredigion Herald: All Change at Aberystwyth Station with £1.6m Funding

The VoR have secured £1.6m to replace their terminus with an 'authentic Great Western Railway 1930’s style station' alongside the engine shed, which will house a 'multifunction display and entertainment facility and new café'. A new carriage shed will also be built.

Does this sideline, if not end altogether, plans to re-erect the London Bridge trainshed?

Had completely forgotten about the London Bridge roof! Good question, hope it's not the case

Wasn't the trainshed going to be used for the museum building?

That was the plan, but has anything been heard since 2013? With this new scheme involving a 'multifunction display and entertainment facility' in the engine shed perhaps they've had second thoughts.

Pertinent comments in the narrative about the locomotives collected from around the world since the 1980s. An unrivalled collection which has never been on public display. It will be very interesting to see what eventually arrives.

    Cheerz,

Is it just the angle of the photograph or is No.7's chimney much wider than the chimney's on No.s 8 & 9?

The angle of the photo, the fact it's matt black rather than gloss, and the reflections on the copper caps make it look odd compared to the others.

It does seem to look wider to me. Been fitted with a multijet exhaust?

I think it's a shame that VoR won't be part of the mainline station anymore, there can't be many heritage operations that do share a terminus station with the big railway, what of the London Bridge station roof pillars plans? And the museum that they were to be a part of, this development seems very watered down to the aspirations of a few years ago.

Agreed, it was something rather special. Although VoR trains do use the Carmarthen platform space, it's seemed quite separate for a while, with the separate entrance and ticket hut near their car park well away from the mainline station.
The museum plans were very exciting, but nothing has been heard for a long time. I wonder if the London Bridge roof will join a lot of semi-vanished locomotives in the VoR storage somewhere?
