    For most preservationists the Memorial to Mr. Woodham must be the large number of heritage locomotives that are in running order and those still to achieve that status. It is fortunate for the railway preservation movement in that locomotives were amongst the last items to succumb to the torch at Barry. The fact that they are running over most parts of the UK and therefore more people get to see them, whereas a plaque or monument in South Wales would be seen by far less people.
