Tornado with Boxpok driving wheels - that's a novelty.
Perhaps that is what's causing the current delayed re-introduction into main line service?

That is one good thing about the old GWR. Most of their CME's had easily memorized and spelled names.

 

I have always thought that Tornado’s spoked wheels looked far too old fashioned for a modern built loco!

So just following on from the information about Tornado now doing the Santas over the Christmas period, it's obviously a bonus in theory for the NVR to have Tornado available but I can't help but think as to what the original plan was going to be if the A1 wasn't going to be around. Has it taken over 34081's runs therefore meaning the Battle of Britain Loco Society has therefore lost out on steaming fees?

 

Of the 14 public Santa days, 60163 gets 9 and 34081 gets 5. AFAIK the original plan was to hire 78018 to share Santa duties with 92 Squadron but I'm unsure how the duties were due to be split between the two.

 

Is Paddington going on his holidays, because you know the summer comes soonest in the south, lol just bear with me, Paddington knows a proper engine when he see's one at least.

 

I was going to dispute the "proper engine" statement as I'm one of those who believe that proper engines have copper capped chimneys, but I have to admit that Clan Line is a magnificent locomotive.

 

Tornado, Clan Line, most steam locomotives are "proper engines". Yes, even those afflicted with copper capped chimneys

 

As far as I am concerned the extra decorative copper on GWR engines just helps increase their scrap value
