LNER man - but I have a soft spot for the three cylinder Jubilees. Beautiful engines, and Bahamas looks absolutely stunning.

How can we not celebrate the successes of our partners in arms in this industry? Amazed that there's not been more said about the quality of this restoration to working order. Just sublime.

Pleased you like it. I think the traffic levels on the roads around the S&C will be unusually high on February 9th

I wanted to be there but it was my then girlfriends 21st birthday. If I had known she was going to dump me three months later I would have gone. Bahamas will be a big draw but I don't think that big

It was probably just abandoned, like most of the cars there!

The guy with the Humber wasn't going to get out that easily either. We got there with 2 hours to spare... so parked a bit further up the road in an Austin 1100.
Just think, no internet, no mobile phones, no social media, yet we all knew what was going on.

We had Modern Railways and Railway Magazine in which we had blind faith not to mention the enthusiast grape vine.

The question was largely rhetorical aimed at the 'youngsters' amongst us who believe life must have been nigh on impossible before tinternet.

There is a picture with the police van in the middle, which was published a few years ago with 'PCs Ventress and Bellamy having a bad day on traffic control' or something similar!

There were similar scenes by the Hopton Incline on the last day of the Cromford and High Peak only it was the local bus that got trapped in the middle of it all
