Will the 31 be green? Best livery for them IMO

Sticking with the Class 31 theme, this week's Carriage & Wagon Blog shows further progress concerning its overhaul:

Re the Gresley Buffet, the official name (according to the late Les Browning, chargehand coach builder at Doncaster) for what you refer to as "teak cantrails" is the "muck cornice" the cantrails are the 4" x 3", usually pine timbers to which the steel carlines are attached.

Just read an unconfirmed comment on the internet that the signal box at Reedham Junction is being gifted to the NNR for use in a proposed museum complex at Holt.

I also read that on Facebook. Interesting if it's true.

I’m not a great photographer so I don’t think these quite do the place justice.

I don’t know Weybourne well enough to comment on whether those do it justice, but that second picture is really atmospheric.

Find it very interesting that the storm sheet for the Y14 came from canvas from a Norfolk Wherry. I guess this is an authentic modification?

Plus makes the Y14 more comfortable for crews in the winter months.

EDP website just reported a collision on the crossing that leads to the Sheringham golf course.

Happily no reports of injuries. One wrecked car by the look of it.

Hope the crew are not too shook up by the actions of the idiot car driver.

Hope the Y14 was not damaged.

Having looked at an image sent by a colleague it would appear to be very much Y14 one, Mercedes nil.

Glad to hear no-one was hurt, but of course the real damage will be the shock to all three people involved. In the past, drivers have chosen not to return to the footplate after level crossing collisions, which is very sad indeed.
