Anyone know the current location and operational status of 30850? Seems to have slipped off my radar at present!

She's still at the GCR as far as I know. Her return to the ML has been put back for a while.

I know alot of people have put alot of effort into this engine and it's gutting to see it plagued by these problems. Hopefully after all the attention and inspections it's recieved, it can finally turn over a new leaf and do justice to the people who restored it.

"Out" as in "under repair", "out" as in "having a boiler wash-out or other routine maintenance", or "out" as in "not on the roster for a few weeks"?

Anyone know the current location and status of 30850. Is it still at the GCR, if so is it still operable there. If not when is it due to leave [or has it left] and is it still intended for it to undergo mainline trials and if so when and where?

Still in use at the GCR at the weekend with 5690 and 3440. Carnforth was selected as the base for her ML trials but no idea when they are.

How long has she still got on her main line boiler ticket and can the NRM recuperate the money spent on her boiler repairs before her main line ticket runs out.

Interesting point mate. Although I could be wrong, but I think the NRM recuperate the money from other means. And they could have the funds already for the next overhaul.

  14. considering as she has been out of action ect wouldnt the ticket have re started after re examination By Mr glaze?

No tickets on boilers restart so to speak, they might get an extension; but thats it in my personal opinion.

That’s the same thing I was thinking 34007 I think your right about that. If we are wrong I’m sure someone on this forum will soon tell us.

John Glaze is not the only Boiler Inspector in the country. And I can find no mention of an official title of "Mainline Boiler Inspector".
I am sure Mr. Glaze does a very fine job, but he is not the only one.

7 years left on boiler certificate which expires 2015 though presumably the mainline ticket will expire before this guess around 2012 and an extension will be then required if it is to work mainline until 2015. Nothing new in this though.

The latest 'Heritage Railway' has her moving directly by road to Carnforth imminently and running a 'Lord Mayor of Lancaster' charity special out and back to Scarborough on 29th November. No proving run required apparently just reweighing and balancing-a VAB inspector will travel on the Scarborough trip. No other trips are booked and no decision has been made on a future base the article adds.

Dare say any future railtour bookings will depend on how it copes on 29 November. Lets hope its a success and "Nellie" returns to the big railway.
