........and back into Victoria from Reading via North Pole.

That route strikes me as a future option for other luncheon circulars out of Victoria although I have to say that the final diversion via Clapham (P17), Balham and Brixton is most unusual. It's such a pity that only the Pullman clientele will get this really interesting route. However, it does illustrate the lengths that Network Rail will go to in order to honour regular workings when you could easily see one-off steam trips having to be cancelled if engineering work gets in the way.

Yes Al the last routing seems very strange, ( unless there are engineering works somewhere)but the freight paths are still in RTT between Latchmere and Factory Junctions for Saturday afternoon. Nice ramble for them though.

Normally, when the usual Surrey Hills route is closed, the pullmans have taken a circular route through Kent and I'm surprised that this isn't the case on Saturday as there aren't any engineering works planned. Perhaps, with the likelihood of slippery rails at this time of year, it was felt inadvisable given the steep gradients at some point on all the usual Kent circular permutations, although Wayne took 35028 up to Gomshall with 13 carriages on 24th November with no problems on a gloomy. damp day.

Pity - it would have been good to have an excuse to stick the GA regalia on the front of Clan Line. but it will certainly be a pleasant sight for people living n the Chiltern and GW lines.

The UKRT trip on 24th Nov had a more interesting route: out of Paddington, reportedly the last loco-hauled train through Park Royal, and back to London via the Reading underpass, Guildford and Redhill.

35028 hasn't been gauged for the Ket circle recently otherwise I'm sure that's what would have happened

Clan Line is not gauged for Kent but, of course, it's ok for the Chilterns.

Indeed, RTT actually doesn't even confirm it's anywhere at all! No actual timings along its route as yet. Odd.

Definitely running, here it is passing High Wycombe in the same awful flat light that accompanied it last time it used this route

It's disappeared from OTT after Twyford - a glitch I assume? Edit - and from RTT at the same place.

Got back to Victoria after going to football not too long ago and caught a whiff of burning coal, I went and had a look I saw 35028 waiting in the platform, to be taken back to Stewarts Lane. Was a nice little bonus to the day.

Engineering work Stewarts Lane Junction (Battersea Pier Junction to Factory Junction). The reason the ECS left the Lane early and stood in Victoria for three and a half hours before departing. Then on our return we were booked to stand at Victoria from 1745 until 2003. The work over ran and we never left Victoria until 2100, another three and a quarter hours! Getting away from Platform 17 at Clapham with nearly 600 tons behind us was interesting to say the least. The 67 was not meant to be on the train, but it was requested to provide ETH as the generator car was defective. Then they got the Generator going but it was too late to remove the 67, so 120 tons of dead weight to tow around for no reason.
