Thanks! It'll be both easier and more challenging than the RAT turn I did at Ropley, I feel...

The picture of 925 is a bit of a cheat:). Anyone worrying about the loco passing the starter at danger, should know that it was moving away from the camera at the time, being on the back of the train being dragged to Alton. ;)

Another excellent evening on the Christmas Countryman last night. Great food and wonderful service from the volunteers made sure my family had a great time. My Mum certainly enjoyed herself after a few drinks!
The 9F was certainly on good form hauling four carriages. She sounded great even though she looked a bit ill - she had tinselitis! Boom-tish. We had to stop at Medstead on the first round trip to allow a WCRC Class 47 with the ECS for Mondays Cathedrals Express to pass us. 44871 was hiding in the dark in Ropley yard with the support coach.

Thank you to everyone involved for a great evening. We will be back again next year.

No, we didn't see you hiding in the dark. Fantastic night shot of the 9F.

Glad you enjoyed it, even if us platform staff were only a small part of it! :)
Also glad I didn't manage to ruin your evening! ;)

I saw you lurking around at Alresford... ;)
The person in charge was wondering what the large lights were for as the 9F left - that photo will be shown to him later.

Nope. The carriage window was rather moist with condensation. I didn't clean it until after we left Alresford.
You were brave going out in the appalling weather last night. Driving in from Aldershot was an interesting experience for me. The bypass was flooded in several places and the road under the bridge just outside Alresford was under water. We had rain and hail stones hitting the windscreen.
What a relief that it was rather calm on the way home; the roads were empty and the rain had been blown away.

Is it just me or has there been an increase in mainline charters to Alresford?

That was taken near Lymington Bottom, with the full knowledge & agreement of the footplate crew et al. ;):)

    Cheers Mate,

Thanks for putting on the show.

Watching & listening to the 9F coming up Medstead bank in the dark was something else! :)

Travelling behind the 9F last night was very impressive. The "space ship" sounded brilliant climbing in both directions but the departures from Alton were very spirited. We felt like we could have been back on the S&D in the dying days of the Slow and Dirty with a mighty 9F relegated to a four coach local service..... Magic soundtrack last night from one of Riddles finest.
