WSR SK W25308 is helping with Santas at the K&ESR and found an appropriate ‘friend’ yesterday.

There are also a couple of short videos of them working together on you tube.

For those of you who do not use FB, some good news from WSR Mechanical Engineering Department regarding 7828 returning to service:

"Why not come along after Christmas and see Odney in service from 27th onwards! And bring your friends!!!!"

 

Has something changed? I though the line was closed until the end of March to enable work to be done in accord with the ORR inspection.
Of course F?Book is well known for fake news.

 

Not fake. Following the Christmas and New Year services full line closure commences on 2nd January.

I see, but then Christmastide to me is twelve days lasting until on 5th. January. The 27th. suggests, to me, January.

 

Not sure where you got that idea from. Or were the trains over the weekend just ghost trains

BTW I understand Odney Manor due to start running-in this week.

Not here. There are many celebratory days within the twelve weeks prior to Christmas. For a start, there is my wedding anniversary (a date no man should ever forget ), then my birthday, Thanksgiving Canada, Thanksgiving USA, St. Nicholas and I guess one or two other things that might occur.

 

Good plan. I’m signalling on the line on 31 Dec. Do give me a wave when you pass.

There are still nine more operating days this season:

22 - 24 December inclusive (pre-booked Christmas trains only) and
27 December to 1 January inclusive (regular services), the highlight being
Winter Steam Festival on 29/30 Dec.

 

Is this correct?

 

7828 Odney Manor

For those who have an interest in WSR locomotives 7828 is reported to be outside the loco shed at Minehead with a warming fire in the boiler.

Very well done to all those involved, I am sure that it will be a splendid sight on its first test train later this week.

Very good, but what of Ditcheat Manor (a WSRA owned loco and 'asset') at Steam, Swindon?

I think the answer to that is that it's "stuffed and mounted" until such time as funds can be found to restore it.
