I suspect there are plenty of loco owners around the country who would bite your hand off to be able to keep their loco stored out of the weather in the way Ditchest Manor is stored, not to mention the PR value to the WSR. Until there is capacity to restore it (and presumably that has to wait until 4561 is complete) the loco is surely far better off where it is than slowly decaying out in a siding somewhere.

Absolutely, the WSRA is very fortunate to have a safe, secure & undercover location to keep Ditcheat Manor, and one where the locomotive can be seen by people.

 

It certainly looks well-cared for in Swindon. Shame it's not a hall though..."deck the manors with boughs of holly" doesn't scan so well. Pic here:

She’s out! 7828 ‘Odney Manor’ approaching Dunster West Crossing on test at 14:20 on 21.12.18.

 

Approached to within a couple of hundred yards of Blue Anchor crossing at 1510, now running back towards Dunster.

 

On her way back into Minehead 1550 ?

 

Safely back with the light fading at 15:54.
