    Can those who understand the intricacies of the FTR explain how the loco having failed its FTR can still travel behind a diesel? The only reason I could think of that would allow that would be a braking issue, where the diesel would provide the braking,but I guess there must be other parameters.

    Possibly permitted for one-off, slow speed movement to a location where the damage can be repaired. Stewarts Lane to Selhurst isn't too far, only a few miles.

    Without going into the minutiae of what is and isn't permitted, that pretty well sums it up. Clan Line has been to Selhurst depot, and is now back at Stewarts Lane. Work has been done on the damaged tender wheel, but of course we still await the next FTR exam tomorrow.
