Doesn't get it repaired any quicker, though.

Indeed - I really dislike the term "dragged". Even with rods off, it is still "hauled". "Dragged" would be with brakes locked and wheels not turning - i.e. never going to happen! Anything pulled on the railway is simply 'hauled', whether under any power or not.

Run at 60mph and centrifugal force on the curve should ensure clearance!

You clearly haven't seen the dynamic envelope of movement when a steam loco is at speed. :)

Absolutely - it was only a light-hearted comment!

Why not? If Network Rail were in any way at fault and Clan Line needed to transfer to Selhurst, Network Rail may have been pleased to help with a swift VSTP schedule.

Fingers crossed that all goes well with the FTR exam. <BJ>

Possibly a 'quick' tyre turning was all that was necessary using Selhurst's Underfloor Wheel Lathe?

"We are delighted to announce that we have passed our fitness to run exam this afternoon. A big thank you should go to all of those who worked around the clock to get our locomotive ready for tomorrow's railtour"

Well done to everyone at MNLPS for making it happen!

That's great. I can only imagine the hard work by all at MNLPS over the past few days, and the stress to meet the deadline. Great stuff guys. Alarm set for 0500.

Yes indeed; thanks for the "thanks". There's a fair few guys on our team that deserve a pint or three given their commitment over the past couple of weeks. I'll have one for them tomorrow in the DT and hold the rest over until the new year!!

35028 away from Clapham 12L at 09:16. Standard at the front for those travelling later. Completely bowled for a shot from platform 9 by a 450 shunting through the yard but nice to even see it on my way to work. Well done to all those involved in getting the loco fit after the previous week!

I used to think that Tyseley's Earl was pretty much the Gold Standard in terms of turn-out and presentation. I'm still just as sure about that, but, from this superb image, I am now finally convinced that it isn't unique in this respect. Many thanks for posting.

No finer sight than a steam loco leaning into a bend at speed. Timed it at 76mph on the fast through Hook
