    Xmas Dalesman 1b.jpg

Damp yes but 'Flying Scotsman' still makes a worthwhile sight as it heads the 'Christmas Dalesman/Riley's Whisky Chaser' north through Selside with Ron Smith
driving and Matt Durkan on the shovel

    Xmas Dalesman 2b.jpg

Certainly not sparing the horses as 'Flying Scotsman' races through Oxenholme with the return leg of 'Riley's Whisky Chaser' with Steve Chipperfield driving
and Clive Gault feeding the beast

There was some very brisk running today particularly on the way home, and we passed through Oxenholme at 75ish.
Helped by the lack of Northern services we left Preston 4 early, gained more time by cutting the Bolton stop from 18 minutes? to 8, hesitated at Ordsall junc. instead of 10 minute stop thus arrived at Victoria 34 early....

Is this the 1st time 60103 has stormed up shap in its new 10 year boiler ticket since it started doing charters from 2015 when she was unleashed again? Cracking video of her romping it through oxenholme sgthompson. Also what did the headboard represent the whiskey chaser was there a party on in the dining car serving whisky, or was it just to do wi flying scotsmans name?

No ! It flew up Shap on 6 February 2016 - 2 days after passing her main line test still in unlined black livery.

Today's effort seen accelerating from a stop at Lostock Hall - note the observation of the "No leaning out of the window" edict.
