It's "brazed". "Braise" is wot you do to a bit of stewing steak... ;)

And I always thought that stewing steak was stewed & braising steak was braised.

    Oops!

I shall present myself to the local butcher to be slapped around the face with a piece of braising steak for that fundamental error. Mind you, a recipe book that accompanied a vintage cooker talks about braising onions... and making spaghetti bolognese in the oven?

Satan specials? Instead of Santa’s Grotto are they building a giant wicker man at Weybourne instead?

It has been suggested that there are many forked trees there. ;) Don't remember seeing them when I have been in that area.

Does it look as if 53809 will be staying on the NNR permanently? Was under the impression it was staying for a year with the possibility of that leading to a long term loan.

It really is exciting times for the heritage coach fund. Gresley buffet back, vintage set about to be completed, Thompson coming on apace and the flagship coach GER BTK next in the queue...and then there is the work you do on the everyday mark 1s, which (to this armchair enthusiast) looks worthy of a mainline carriage shop in terms of it's scope and quality...and seems pretty darn quick too. Thanks for the blogs, they're great reading

I had no idea that a few Gresley teak carriages lasted in BR service that long and wore BR blue.
