LBSC lived at 121 Grange Road Purley Oaks from 1934 till 1967, and was not sold till 1972 when Mabel died. It is a terraced house that now has a blue plaque. LBSC never referred to his home as 'Bedside Manor'.

    Cheers,

    Julian

'Curly' aka 'Lillian' Lawrence who designed and built many live steam locos in gauges '0' to 5". One of the pioneers of the model engineering fraternity.

Lillian Lawrence was the miniature locomotive designer who wrote wrote under the pen name LBSC in the Model Engineer magazine for over 42 years. He also wrote in other magazines an designed more miniature locos than anyone else. He also built a lot of locos.

Despite working in minature he was elected to The Institute of Locomotive Engineers, he built the first loco fitted with Holcrofts congugated valve gear as a demonstrater - and being fairly openly transgender didnt seem to hurt his career.............

Surely a Hall is just a Urie H15 backdated to Victorian standards of ease of preparation...

i built a Tich from a book of his almost 50 years ago,
i often wondered what became of his loco collection, does anyone know?

Well there are no operations to discuss for the next three months, so something has to keep this thread going.

I see on FB that 6695 has vacated the shed at Williton. Is this because of Thornbury Castle?

Free garaging for Thornbury perhaps? Perks of being the Chairman I suppose ;-) (shame about the volunteer groups but hey)
